Powis Castle and Garden is located just outside Welshpool and is managed by The National Trust.
The castle is medieval in origin, extended over the centuries as both a fortress and a grand country mansion. It is richly decorated with a large collection of statues, furniture and textiles from Europe, India and the Orient.
Within the castle the Clive Museum features more than 300 items from India and the Far East, dating from the 17th to the 19th centuries, including ivories, textiles, statues of Hindu gods, ornamental silver and gold, and weapons and ceremonial armour.
The gardens are 300 years old and have a mix of dramatic terraces, sophisticated flower borders, fantastical yew topiary and superb views.
