Silver Mountain Experience

Visitors entering tunnel at Silver Mountain Experience

Located in the Cambrian Mountains around 15 miles from Wye View, Silver Mountain Experience was originally the Llywernog silver-rich lead ore mine, primarily worked from the 19th Century. Long after the mine was closed the site was completely redeveloped and the mine buildings restored as a unique example of Welsh mining heritage. The upper underground tunnels can be explored along with the ore dressing buildings, count house and a museum of tools, equipment and documents. Outside there are examples of mining machinery and working water wheels.

The original buildings are used as a set for the Silver Mountain Experience, interactive performances based around themes of A Miner’s Life, A Dragon’s Tale, and The Black Chasm.

For children there is also water play, gem panning and a fossil dig, plus trails around the site. There’s also a cafe and a shop.

On the same site you can find Ultimate Xscape Aberystwyth, featuring the Jack The Ripper and Diamond Heist escape rooms. You have 60 minutes for your team of up to six people to complete puzzles and find a way to escape the room. Tickets must be booked in advance.
