Great stay and thank you for making us feel so welcome in this super cottage. Grace & Adrian went the extra mile, lovely eggs, dog treats & bara brith. Thank you.
We spent the week walking in Elan Valley & surrounds – stunning.
Grace suggested we visited Gilfach nature reserve – what a place – dog (on lead) friendly.
Take care if you attempt the walk at Llangurig out of the Kittiwake book – signs have gone & 3 farms with dogs.
Thanks again for everything.
Mike & Sue.
Thank you for providing such a beautiful, comfortable and well equipped cottage with stunning views. We were only here for a few days but were able to walk and and enjoy the stunning Welsh landscape. We plan to return for a longer visit if possible as soon as we can. Thank you Adrian and Grace for providing everything we needed and being so helpful, and for the delicious eggs.
Glynis & Roger.
Warm welcome (and fresh eggs) from Adrian, Grace and Ryan the dog.
Good walks: Gilfach Nature Reserve, Elan Valley and Clywedog reservoir.
Good places to eat: Morgan’s for coffee and cake (Rhayader), Triangle pub (Rhayader) and Old Swan Tearoom (Rhayader).
Great places to eat: Angel Inn (Llanidloes) and Caffi Clywedog.
Den and Rachel.
Had a fabulous break on our second stay at Severn Retreat. Thanks for the eggs Adrian & Grace. Walked Pumlumon Fawr, source of the Severn from Hafren forest and was very lucky with the weather.
Highly recommend the Triangle Inn in Cwmdauddwr but do book first for a meal.
Chris & Phil.
Very pleasant stay here with excellent weather. (Temperature lower than further inland.)
Can recommend Powis Castle and Elan Valley and dams. If you’re feeling adventurous try “Silver Mountain Experience” – not good for those who don’t like dark and enclosed spaces!
Lots of various eateries in Rhayader, can recommend the Elan Hotel for v. good Sunday lunch.
Lovel cottage, imacculate and with a cofortable bed. Adrian and Grace are great hosts and kept us supplied with eggs which we loved.
This is our second visit to Mid Wales and will definitely not be our last. Highly recommended. 🙂
David & Christine.
As promised – a return to Hafren Cottage albeit delayed by a bout of the ‘rona.
A lovely relaxed weekend to round our Easter off – see you again soon!
Clare & Co.
Thank you so much for a perfect stay! Immaculate cottage in a beautiful location. We recommend these day trips:
Elan Valley (including a dam tour if you can)
Dolaucothi Roman Gold Mine – book an underground tour. Kids loved gold panning too.
Carreg Cennen Castle and caves – spectacular!
Ynyslas Nature Reserve – unspoilt sand dunes and great for beach combing.
Sarah & Steve & family.
Yet another lovely stay! Enjoyed walks at Gilfach nature reserve, Devil’s bridge and Aberystwyth. Had a trip ojn a steam train from Llanfair to Welshpool too. Perfect location to explore. Thanks again for letting Maisie play with frisbee with Ryan; one of the best parts of her holiday!
Emma, Matt & Maisie.
We have had a wonderful week here. It has been cosy & very comfortable.
We had everything we needed & more. Best place we have ever stayed in! Thank you so much for all extras & Rocky loved the treats left him.
We visited Aberystwyth, the Pistyll waterfall, Devils Bridge/ waterfall (lots of steps) Bwlch Nant yr Arian – highly recommend watching the feeding of the Red Kites!!! Newtown has a lovely walk along the river & lots of shops.
Thank you for the jump start Adrian & the fresh eggs! The views are stunning.
Alison & Andy (& Rocky too!)
Such a beautiful place. The cottage was perfect. This was our first stay – it won’t be our last! We are already looking at dates to come back.
Thank you so much Adrian & Grace.
Hopefully see you soon!
Adrian & June.
Great walks, stunning views and overall an incredible stay in Elan Cottage. Devil’s Bridge is the place to check out, lovely walk with a preceding flight of stairs and a curving bridge. And a beautiful waterfall.
Duncan, Kate, Barnaby and Nathaniel.
Had a lovely stay! The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed walking in Gilfach nature reserve, Hafren Forest and a bike ride from Rhayader to Elan Valley (Wye Valley Trail). Enjoyed Fresh eggs from the chickens! Great location, definitely be back to explore more.
Emma, Matt + Maisie.
The cottage is so comfortable, with beautiful views and everything you could possibly need. A real home from home. Grace & Adrian have thought of everything and are very welcoming.

We had a wonderful stay, thank you Grace & Adrian for being such excellent hosts & for looking after us during storm Arwen! We loved exploring the local area including Gilfach nature reserve, Bwlch Nant Yr Arian & now off to the Elan Valley. Such a comfortable stay in your very lovely cottage.
Kate & James.
A really great cottage, very clean & attention to detail is second to none, 🙂 very comfortable bed. Would visit again maybe in the summer. A nice restful break from the hustle bustle of everyday life.
Will recommend to family & friends. Thank you.
Keith & Debbie.
What a wonderful find, the place was spotless and the facilities perfect, in an ideal setting as well. The information you provided made a huge difference, along with a lovely welcome.
Thank you very much, it made for a very restful and wonderful break.
Cheryl, Pete & Ziggy.
This was our 2nd visit to Wye View, we last stayed in Severn Cottage in Oct 2018. The place is like a home from home. Grace & Adrian work hard to make sure visitors have everything they need, plus all those extra special touches. The new bed is so comfortable “I struggled to get out of it”! This was only a short visit, spur of the moment thing to view a house. (Thank you so much for booking us in at short notice.) The cottage is always so clean and well equipped, wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else in this area.
Julie, Pete & Dotty 🐾.
This is our second trip to Hafren Cottage, it doesn’t disappoint you. Everything you need is here, it’s clean, comfortable and a great central point to visit the area. Thank you Grace & Adrian for such a lovely place to stay.
Jean & Graham.
Thank you Adrian & Grace for another lovely stay at Wye Cottage. The cottage was perfect as always.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Wayne, Veronica & Bella the dog.
Thank you Grace and and Adrian for the welcome treats and for being so helpful.
We’ve enjoyed the the cottage, which is excellent. So well equipped; and and love the view thru our kitchen window and the daily visits of the sheep.
The area around is absolutely superb: the Elan dams spectacular, the Llyn Clywedog dam & lead mine ruins were very interesting. Lots of tearooms in the area. Lovely historical buildings in Llanidloes. We found people about were so friendly. Several trails on the Wye Valley walk, where we spotted a red kite soaring above us, were favourites.
Our last day here was spent at Gilfach Nature Reserve towards Rhayader & was unforgettable. Well worth a visit. The views from the top were superb! The weather has been unbelievably good for October. We’d definitely like to return to this lovely part of Wales.
Love – John & Marion.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Severn Cottage. A good location for all the good scenic walks. The views are breathtaking. ❤
Thank you for having us! 🙂
Pippa, Thomas and Forrest (the cockapoo).
Hey Grace and Adrian.
Thanks again for for a wonderful week on the craggy hillside in the middle of nowhere. We managed to survive against the odds and mostly by catching and eating our own fish. Dad and I will be back for another week of hillside survival skills soon…
You guys rock!
James & Geoff.
What a great cottage & brilliant hosts. Grace & Adrian are so welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay & hope to return soon.
Ian, Marueen & Fergus.
Fabulous week – a beautiful area. A big thank you to Grace and Adrian; fet very welcomed and well looked after. Dillan says thank you for the treats. 🐾❤.
We managed to get to Pen Y Garreg dam* and Claerwen reservoir and enjoyed Hafren Forest and especialy Hafod Estate walks – an absolute must for long or short walks. Don’t miss the kite feeding centre if you’re into twitching!
Thanks again and we’ll be back.
Dawn, Ian & Dillan.
*Forgot to say – if you’re following on from us the Pen Y Garreg reservoir is overflowing at the moment due to works on one of the other reservoirs – its very spectacular so worth prioritising (noisy, vast, crashing water – awesome).
The repair work on Craig Goch is now complete. With heavy rain in the autumn / winter the reservoirs will fill up in about 48 hours – and if the rain continues they will all overflow the tops of the dams with water cascading down the dam faces and the spillways on each side. As Dawn and Ian say it is spectacular and well worth a visit with your waterproofs on!Grace & Adrian
We had a wonderful restful time here at Elan Cottage. Beautiful area to explore. Cottage cosy & clean. Our second time at Wye View cottages and it will definitely be a place we will return to.
Rob & Loraine & Evie the dog.
Thank you for providing a brilliant place to stay (albeit short). Our stay has been amazing, great facilities, location – a home from home.
Ian & Alison, Ian & Oliver.
Spotlessly clean. Perfect place to stay for the weekend.
Carol & Stephen.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Elan cottage. Everything has been lovely. The cottage is cosy and comfortable. It is ideally day situated for exploring the local area.
We went to Gigrin to see the red kites being fed. We also went to the Elan Valley. On the last day we went to Brecon, then up in the National Park where we saw several more Red Kites, always an inspiring sight.
We shall return home with many happy memories, Maria to Plymouth and myself to the Staffordshire Moorlands.
By the way, we do have a very few red kites in the moorlands and hope they will increase in time.
Thank you for everything.
Mary and Maria.
Such a lovely Cottage in lovely surroundings. Thoroughly enjoyed our week here!
Very welcome tea, coffee, cake & milk provided on arrival. Beautiful fresh eggs too which were a treat. Buddy loved his doggy pack treats too!
We visited Elan Valley – stunning + very close, Hafod Estate, Hafren Forest and Gilfach Nature reserve. All beautiful with amazing walks and views to behold.
We had takeaways from Raj Mahal & Evans Fish & Chips – both delicious & stayed hot. Drinks at the Mount Inn of an evening were good.
Overall a great time had – thank you so much! 🙂
Anna + Marc + Buddy.
We had a great time. The cottage is so pretty and clean, the attention to detail is amazing. Thank you for such a warm welcome. We slept so well!
Suzanne and Paul + Doodles.
Thank you Adrian & Grace for your warm welcome and a lovely cottage. We enjoyed visiting Elan Valley and the dam at Llyn Clywedog but the highlight of our stay had to be the boardwalk near the picnic site in Hafren Forest it was stunningly beautiful.
Alex & Martyn.
We have had an absolutely fantastic stay at Elan Retreat & have fallen in love with the cottage. The cottage is lovely & clean and has everything you need.
We enjoyed exploring the local area & can recommend visiting Merlin Meirion Mill, Bryntail Lead Mine buildings, a highlight was visiting all of the Dams! Amazing views! Devil’s Budge & waterfalls is also stunning… not far on is Aberystwyth and is well worth a visit to see the Castle & have some lovely seafood.
Thank you so much Grace and Adrian for a lovely peaceful stay and we hope to see you again some time soon.
Jez and Rachael & Daisy 🐾
What an awesome spot for a family holiday Wye View Cottages is! We three have thoroughly enjoyed our week here to round off the summer holiday. Montgomery Castle, Elan Valley Dams, Hafren Forest, Gilfach Nature Reserve, Devil’s Bridge & Aber and the Hafod Estate made our week and outside of food we have spent about £10!!
Huge thanks to Grace, Adrian & of course the gorgeous Ryan. We will be back!!
Clare, Reelzn & Ilze
Hafod Estate is an absolute must do! There are a number of prescribed walks but we combined sections of the blue, green and red walks and enjoyed the beautiful changing vistas. A shorter walk could easily be coupled with the Devil’s Bridge walk – the cheaper one is the best one to see the bridge – the drive to Hafod from Rhayader is gorgeous too – take the road to Cwmystwyth and enjoy!
Thanks for a great week Powys.
Thank you for a comfortable stay. We have enjoyed our week in Wye Cottage. Callum and Aiden loved meeting the chickens, especially feeding them. Thank you Adrian. The eggs were delicious and enjoyed by us all. Perfect location for excursions. We had glorious weather so enjoyed Ynyslas & Aberdyfi beach. The boys had a fantastic day at Small Breeds Farm Park & Owl Centre plus exploring Hafren Forest walks. Thank you again Adrian & Grace.
Joanna, Matthew, Callum & Aiden.
What a beautiful place to stay! We were so impressed by all the lovely little touches and attention to detail! We will definitely be returning with our families! Make sure you visit Gigrin farm while you are here, you will see many beautiful red kites!
Rosie & Tori ❤X
Thank you for a comfortable stay in Elan Cottage. We appreciated the lovely details and having the sheep & birds for company.
Places we explored were: Elan Valley, we will have to return in the winter to see dams overflowing. The open day was interesting, thanks for the tip, Adrian! Great biking and play area.
We loved the gardens at Powis Castle and the interiors are very impressive. The Yew Walk is amazing.
The Centre for Alternative Technologies near Machynlleth was an interesting diversion for half a day – great vege café and the kids loved the funicular. We stopped at the beach at Borth at low tide to explore the petrified forest.
Gilfach nature reserve was beautiful today with heather and harebells at their best.
Beautiful cottage with amazing views. A good base to enjoy the Elan Valley.
Roger, Frances & Milly 🐾
Ditto the last comments, we want to come back if you will let us. Road from Llanidloes to the reservoir, fantastic views. Further afield Cadair Idris spectacular you may even see the RAF!
Got lost on many small roads and the scenery was superb. Hafren Forest walks our favourite, what could be more peaceful after the last 18 months but a tranquil walk with the accompaniment of the source of the Severn.
Despite the weather, the cottage is so well equipped it’s a home from home! So rain or shine, indoors or outdoors a great stay.
Diolch yr Fawr.
Peter, Sharon, Bethany and Lola 🐾
Although we’ve only been able to stay for a couple of days we have had an amazing time. The cottage certainly had the wow factor from the minute we opened the door. Had a lovely last evening with a family film & amazing views no matter what the weather.
Can’t wait to return.
Martin, Carly, Callum & Keira.
Lovely few days in this beautiful cottage. The owners have thought of everything. It’s a great base to explore all the area.
Lynne Trevor & Max.
We don’t want to leave! This is such a beautiful cottage and you are both so kind. A great week. Thank you.
Helen & Dick.
Two mad Marilyn baggers enjoyed a good holiday at this cottage. Thanks to Adrian and Grace for a comfortable and well equipped cottage to rest our weary legs. Some excellent walks in better than expected weather. A highlight being the ascent of Pumlumon Fawr from the Nant-Y-Moch reservoir. A recommended walk for moderate level hiking (small amount of navigational skill could be required in poorer conditions). The ill-advised extension to Banc Llechwedd-Mawr only recommended to those of stern disposition and a high threshold for pain! For those who enjoy a full body-taxing fight through waist-high bracken, tackling Carn Gefallt will tickle that particular urge. More sensibly an ascent of Garreg-Lwyd gives nice views of both the hills and valleys and for wind turbine enthusiasts (I joke not – it was quite interesting and a straight-forward road most of the way). Overall a very enjoyable holiday and unusually for Wales, no requirement for waterproof trousers!
Peter and Angharad.
A beautiful cottage set within the hills of Mid Wales. The cottage had everything we needed for the base of out holiday. The cottage was extremely clean when we arrived.
During our stay we visited the Vale of Rheidol railway form Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge which offered amazing views and a relaxing way to view Mid Wales. Whilst in Aberystwyth we also viewed the castle ruins.
We also visited Quackers indoor play centre in Newbridge on Wye to let the children burn off some energy.
On Wednesday we cycled around Elan Valley. It was an amazing place to visit and take in the stunning surroundings. After the cycle ride we drove to Craig Goch dam for more amazing scenery.
Finally, we plan to stop off at the small breeds farm park and owl centre so that the children can see different animals and break up the journey home.
Mid Wales has been wonderful!
Jen, Lee, Phoebe & Louie
We have had the best time staying in Severn Retreat. Our stay has been very relaxing and credit for this must go to Grace & Adrian for the most perfect “home from home” we have stayed in. Their attention to detail is first class *****. The bed is extremely comfortable affording us both some great nights’ sleep.
A good location for trips out to Barmouth, a great seafront town. Aberystwyth, Newtown for a lovely riverside walk and supermarket shop. Clywedog reservoir & forest walk were worth the visit as was Hafren Forest.
Grace very kindly left us some fresh eggs from her chickens. A big bonus was how many places and beaches are dog friendly around and about.
Would highly recommend Wye View for a relaxing holiday in a perfect location.
Fran & Ian + Marshall (cocker)
Lovely cottage. Great place for some R&R. The hosts have thought of everything. Plenty of great outdoor activities – Elan Valley, Gilfach Nature Reserve, Hafren Forest as well as the coast. An enjoyable stay.
Steve & Sue
Fabulous cottage, very well equipped., Great days out locally – don’t miss Elan Valley.
Lion Royal do great pony treks.
If you like Indian food the Spice Hut was delicious.
Dogs & kids happy 😀
Thank you! An excellent base for the first couple of days of the Wye Valley Walk, source to sea. The hottest days of the year! But fabulous views from Plynlimon. A very well-appointed little house, everything thought of, great kitchen, comfy bed, plenty of space.
A very happy few days.
John & Sarah.
Wonderful couple of nights in your gorgeous clean cottage – we loved just being here, enjoying the views & the added bonus of amazing weather. Thank you so much.
Usha, Fiona, Olive.
A great base away from home to explore Mid-Wales. Spotlessly clean accommodation and lovely hosts. The welsh cakes & milk on arrival were appreciated and Harley was very happy with his dog treats.
Red Kite feeding station at Bwlch Nany Yr Arian visitor centre is well worth a visit as is the Elan Valley Reservoirs. The weather was kind to us all week and we will be going home ‘recharged’. Will definitely be coming back again to explore further.
Phil & Liz (+Harley)
A fabulous week in a part of Wales that I have never visited before, the countryside and views were stunning, and spent most of our time our exploring, we were completely blessed by the weather.
The cottage was fantastic, spotlessly clean and contains everything that you could possibly want.
Everything has been fantastic and would definitely come back.
Elaine & Stuart.
A lovely cottage in immaculate condition and set in an ideal location for exploring the beautiful Wye Valley and surrounding areas. We especially loved the Gilfach Nature Reserve.
Had a wonderful week, thank you and really enjoyed the Welsh Cakes.
Thank you again
Carol & John.
We’d wanted to thank you dearly for our wonderful cosy stay with fantastic views from the windows!
It’s a great location for visiting central Wales, but also close enough to explore places further afield like Snowdonia and Aberystwyth. We’ll remember this place for a long time.
Isabela & Archie
What an amazing cottage! Well equipped and very cozy. Beautiful views framed from the windows.
Lots to see and do in the surrounding area. Really pretty countryside, even in the rain – so much better in the sunshine!
Elan Valley a must, and a great day in Aberystwyth.
Thanks to Grace & Adrian who are the perfect hosts.
Millie our border collie enjoyed her stay and thanks for the treats left.
Jenny & Allan, & Millie 🐾
Fabulous stay in a lovely cottage. Lots of walking done in the surrounding hills – especially loved the remoter parts of the ELan Valley. The sun even made an appearance!
A wonderful relaxing stay in a beautiful cottage. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. We highly recommend the steam train from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge and the chocolate shop.
Sophie & Craig.
We had a fantastic week here at Severn Cottage. Everything we needed was here. Very comfortable and a great base to visit many places in Mid Wales. Wendy and Graham + grandson.
We had a wonderful 3 days staying at your lovely cottage. We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived & felt at home. The cottage was thoughtfully prepared, spotlessly clean & very cosy.
Adrian & Grace are excellent hosts who always made us feel comfortable – we particularly enjoyed the eggs from their hens.
During our three days we were in awe of the breathtaking views of the Welsh countryside, especially Elan Valley, Hafod Estate & the Devils Bridge waterfalls. The third days was rainy but we still managed to drive to Aberystwyth to see the coastline and enjoy some delicious fish & chips. The Lamb & Flag restaurant in Rhayader was also lovely.
Jennie, Georgy & Sheryl.
Great week stopping @ Elan Cottage. Warm welcome from Grace with a bowl of freshly laid eggs – a superb cottage with everything clean & comfortable.
A great base to explore – days out @ Aberystwyth, Elan Valley & the Dams. Great food @ Red Lion Llanidloes and Lamb & Flag Rhayader.
Great views from the cottage window on a relax day.
Andy, Maureen, Riley.
So nice to finally be able to go on holiday & what a find this pace was! Grace & Adrian have literally thought of everything & made it a real home from home. Fantastic location, would recommend a visit to the tearoom at the end of the road in Llangurig. A lovely relaxing week. 😀
Jen & Graham.
As Etta James said – at last!
Such a relief to be back at our little bolt hole.
As always and exceptionally warm welcome and an immaculate cottage.
Bara brith, proper teabags (not forgetting the whistling kettle) & a fabulous view. The tea always tastes better here!
Thank you for having us 😀
Siobhan & Glen.
Thank you for providing a lovely clean cottage and for all the little extras such as a variety of teas, milk, doggy treats and hand a shower washes. It has all been very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.
We have had a fantastic week here at Severn Cottage. Everything we needed was here. Very comfortable and a great base to visit many places in Mid Wales. Thank you for a great week at Elan Cottage – we felt very well looked after and really loved the eggs!
Beautiful surroundings ad amazing field to the side, and gorgeous flowers around the cottages.
We loved Rhayader – very nice pool, park and shops (and ice cream!) The kites were great.
Aberystwyth not far away with lots to do, and pony trekking was a highlight (Lion Royal Inn).
The perfect base equipped with everything you need for all home comforts. Spotlessly clean with a beautiful setting.
We felt at home as soon as we arrived. The information provided was excellent as was the communication and information provided before we arrived.
Thank you Adrian & Grace. X
Chris & Roy.
Well, what can I say! Such a beautiful cottage and renovated keeping such character (latch doors). Lovely decoration & furnishing and well equipped with everything you need. The hosts Adrian & Grace have thought of everything you need, the cottage is outstandingly clean. We were greeted with such a warm welcome, and fresh eggs to to have for breakfast were gorgeous.
Waking up in such idyllic surroundings with the birds eating from the feeders, such varieties. They should be proud of themselves for taking so much pride in delivering such amazing accommodation to guests as no doubt it is hard work. I have had a great time, enjoying the Elan Valley, cycling, walking, BBQs, visiting Devils Bridge and the views are stunning, such a great place to be and will return. Not to mention an problems nothing was too much trouble, Bless you both, I rate this place ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A beautiful week at Wye View. Adrian and Grace such wonderful welcoming hosts. The cottage is everything you could wish for. Visited some stunning places. Sorry to leave (thank you for the beautiful eggs).

(Another comment from one of our junior guests, we love it when we get these.)
Thank you very much for letting us stay. The view was amazing and beautiful. We spent all our days outside in the lovely weather and did a lot of fun activities like walks, went to see the kites, went to see the impeccable waterfalls. And more.
Thanks we will be coming back.
from Iola, Erin, Stu, Sarah. XXX
Enjoyed the stay in Llangurig and the week here was just what was needed after months of not going anywhere.
Plenty of hill walking opportunities (“Source of the Severn Walk” from Hafren forest is recommended).
Cottage was ideal for what was required. Would consider coming back – the best recommendation available!
A quiet relaxing break (and to celebrate a birthday) away from Birmingham. Weather has been mixed although oddly our best day was probably our first tour of Elan Valley when it was pretty miserable. We are very Covid conscious so brought all our food with us and didn’t eat out anywhere although we had an ice cream at Ynyslas (Borth) and got a delicious wholemeal loaf from the PO + shop at Llangurig.
We’ve had a lovely stay in a warm, comfy home from home with everything we could need. Thank you Grace & Adrian for the delicious eggs! I’m going to miss the clean air!
Laurence, Heather & Jo.
Lovely cottage and Grace & Adrian could not be more helpful, not forgetting Ryan! – charming.
Everything you need is here and more. Enjoyed the home lain eggs – thank you Grace.
Excellent place to stay to see all the many local attractions & walks.
Helge & Mike
Adrian & Grace such welcoming hosts. Cottage thoughtfully equipped. Welcome tray very welcome. We really enjoyed the nature reserves and exploring the towns around. Really enjoyed our stay in this amazingly beautiful area.
Richard & Jilly.
Lovely stay, Grace & Adrian super hosts, relaxing and much needed restful break. Bird song & green fields food for the soul.
Cottage beautiful catering for every need.
Ozzy enjoyed the free treats – one happy dog.
Us from Manchester.
A very welcome change from Snowdonia, “The Retreat” and our hosts made us feel at home. Everything 100%!!
Do visit the Elan Valley lakes – especially after rainfall. The overflowing dam was very spectacular!
It is a shame to have to go home.
Alex and Steve.
We’re walking the Wye Valley and having got to Newbridge we drove past Wye View and both said we should stay there when doing the Rhayader to Llangurig leg.
What a great decision the cottage is fantastic and we’ve enjoyed being here very much.
Thanks Grace and Adrian for providing us with such a great holiday.
Jean & Graham.
Thank you Adrian & Grace for your warm welcome. The cottage is very well equipped and spotlessly clean with such attention to detail, we so enjoyed the welcome pack especially the bara brith – yum!
We enjoyed exploring the local area , we loved the Elan Valley, Gilfach nature reserve, river walks to Rhayader and the beautiful gardens at Powis Castle. There’s loads more to explore and we would have to come again as the cottage is perfect, even having its own wildlife with birds feeding by the windows all day – fabulous!
Paul & Wendy.
P.S. Thanks for the eggs too!
Another lovely week at Wye View. The cottage was lovely & clean as always with all the lovely touches from the hosts as well.
Did some lovely walks with the dog and especially enjoyed the amazing views from the top of Llyn Clywedog reservoir just up the road.
Thanks for a lovely stay and look forward to returning soon.
Wayne, Veronica & Bella the dog.
Had another fantastic 2 weeks in Severn Retreat, lovely cottage everything we could wish for. Yummy eggs and Bara Brith from our hosts Grace & Adrian. Cottage spotlessly clean and lots of local and historical info from Grace & Adrian which added greatly to our stay making us feel welcome.
Going home feeling rested & relaxed. Beautiful sunny weather. Stunning scenery and great walking in Hafren Forest, Elan Valley and Hafod.
Debbie & Dave.
PS Gilfach nature reserve is just up the road great walks and wildlife.
Wonderful stay in this cosy, well-equipped cottage and very welcoming hosts.
Enjoyed cycling the Elan Valley Trail from Rhayader (Clive Powell Bikes were really helpful, and good quality bikes). Fortunate to have tea and cake at the Penbont House tea rooms on the way back – first day business allowed to open outside!!
Lots of great hiking within 15 minutes, and the Gilfach Nature Reserve was enjoyable on the day we arrived.
Thanks for a lovely stay,
Ed & Suzanne.
Booked on impulse as soon as things started opening up after lockdown and so glad I did! Beautiful cottage, lovely hosts – very helpful when needed. Puts the “treat” into retreat. I’m sure I’ll be back. Thank you for such a lovely stay.
Our second visit was every bit as good as the first. Cottage is first class – everything you could wish for.
Beautiful area and fantastic walks.
Thank you Grace and Adrian.
Colin & Jean.
We had a week of excellent weather (tho’ not the best for fishing!) in this lovely cottage. The lovely views & most helpful hosts have helped make this an enjoyable visit.
Geoff & James.
Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our first trip back into Wales following lockdown. Grace & Adrian are the perfect hosts too. The welcome tray is such a welcome treat and Jackson absolutely loved his little biscuits. 🐾
The cottage has everything you could need and is in the perfect location for visiting some stunning places. Elan Valley, Bwlch Nant Y Arian forest, Hafrod Estate and also Borth Beach.
Thank you so much for your hospitality.
Cheryl, Mark & Jackson the Springer 🐾
So good! The cottage exceeded expectations in every way. Great attention to detail, we needn’t pack the kitchen sink next time!
Location made for a great base for a week of cycling, the endless tracks of the Hafren forest were a highlight! Will recommend and hope to return!
Pete & Vicky
A very pleasant surprise to find a gem of a cottage, everything perfect and really appreciated the beverage tray & fresh eggs – had great days out in Elan Valley, the kite feeding park and Aberystwyth. Hope to return in the future.
Lee, Bev, Grace & Ty.
A much needed break in this magnificent part of Wales that we have driven through on countless occasions to and from Snowdonia on the A470 but after this week we have fallen in love with. Easter Day on the summit of Pen Pumlumon which Nick has been waiting to climb for years; a bitingly cold day on Esgair Penygarreg with Cadair to the north and the Black Mountains to the south seeming to be within touching distance; dodging snow showers at Strata Florida Abbey; cycle rides along the Elan Trail and around the Hafren Forest and every journey accompanied by the majestic beauty of red kites soaring effortlessly overhead. This delightful, cosy and well equipped cottage was the perfect base.
Emma, Nick, Milly.
PS – The stars were incredible! Milly.
How fortunate I was, to discover Wye View and Elan Cottage was open to visitors after a long spell of going nowhere:- what a perfect place to spend some time away from ‘it’ all and in the most hospitable of circumstances.
Myself and my 2 grandchildren (10 & 5) have thoroughly enjoyed EVERYTHING that Adrian & Grace have to offer here. Thank-you both so much, for such a warm and heartfelt welcome.
I am fairly certain we will visit again.

Had a lovely few days, prefect hsots & cottages, just the break we needed. Thanks.
Nic & Keith.
Had a fabulous stay and the weather was amazing. Cottage was very clean & tidy and the hosts were very helpful. Their dog was lovely too. Definitely be back.
Thanks very much,
Craig & Julie
In between reading we had some great cycle rides & walks – the former in the Elan Valley & Wye Valley & the later in the Hafren Forest.
Lovely cottage – thank you Grace & Adrian.

Our second stay except in a different cottage. Same high quality but this time the weather was so much better. Cannot fault the cottage or the location. Wonderful walking country.
Thanks again and we will be back.

Wow! A home from home only smaller, but feeling spacious too.
A cosy cottage, clean, fresh, tastefully decorated and well equipped to the smallest detail. The perfect antidote for staying at home. We were incredibly impressed by our stay here and will absolutely recommend it to all our friends and family. We have Wye View earmarked for future visits. Thankyou Grace & Adrian for all the work you’ve put into making us feel welcome.
Michele & Chris.
Perfect, what more can we say, weather not the best!! but loved coming “home”. Really appreciated how clean everything was, that takes hard work – so
“Thank you very much.”

A lovely relaxing week in Wales. Lovely cottage, great location for Elan, Snowdon & Breacon.
