We had a great stay in the cottage. Grace gave us a lovely welcome and information about the area. We had a great walk at Elan Valley, with a nice lunch at the tearoom. The kite feeding at Bwlch Nant Yr Arian was impressive, the birds stayed for a long time after the feeding. Grace suggested Hafod for a nice walk and great views and it was fabulous!
What a lovely area to stay, cottage is just what you need, equipped with all you could possibly want. We have visited the Elan Valley, walked to the dams, found a lovely tea room just reopened at Easter.
The information centre at Elan Valley was very good, the people very helpful.
Managed to avoid cooking all week there are lots of places to eat and the local takeaways as well that Grace has left details of.
What more can I say, lovely place and lovely people.
Lovely cottage and very welcoming & peaceful place. We had a wonderful time here & would love to come back one day. Butterfly farm at Aberystwyth was amazing and Triangle Inn (16th century pub) was lovely and had great meal there. Thanks so much!
Have really enjoyed our stay here. A beautiful cosy cottage in great surroundings. One of the most immaculately clean & well equipped cottages we have stayed in. Very tempted to return.
Thanks for a nice relaxing week in your lovely cottage (just what the doctor ordered). We have visited Wales on and off for 40 years but still managed to see places we hadn’t seen before.
Cosy cottage, loved the fire. We visited Devil’s Bridge falls, Powis Castle, Aberystwyth, walked through Hafren forest and cycled through the Elan Valley. Thanks for a fab stay. Al & Rod.
Very many thanks to Grace & Adrian for making our stay so enjoyable. We greatly appreciated the milk, tea, coffee and biscuits that you provided for us. The cottage was lovely and just what we wanted – so comfortable! … Your advice, both person to person and in your guide book was so helpful. Thanks so much for everything.
It’s been a lovely place from where to explore the beautiful countryside. Grace made us feel very welcome and we have had everything we needed. Thank you very much. The dogs agree. Woof woof.
Beautiful Cottage with amazing views. Very clean and lovely to come in and find milk, tea, coffee & sugar ready for us even biscuits for our dog. Very friendly welcome.
The attention to detail, numerous generous surprise extras and warm welcome received by Grace and Adrian after a long journey have made this by far the best holiday cottage we have stayed in. From start to finish nothing was too much trouble and we will certainly be recommending it.
We will be leaving with very happy memories including being here on the coldest Bank Holiday recorded in May. Woke to discover snow on high ground on Sunday!!
Many thanks again Grace and Adrian for all your kindness.
A perfect stop-gap on our way to Snowdonia. My wife and I both went to university in Aberystwyth and met there 20 years ago. Have travelled this road 100 times but it is the first time we have stayed here to appreciate its beauty fully.
Elan Valley is a must – water like mirrors. And our 5 year old son loved playing in the stream.

Last minute booking for the weekend. Grace and Adrian were so welcoming! Amazing location and views, cottage very cosy and beds wonderfully comfortable.
Lovely, comfortable stay in Elan Cottage. We saw lots of blue tits, great tits and robins from the perfectly placed windows. Beautiful views too, of course.
Thank you again Grace & Adrian for a lovely relaxing stay – recharged our batteries! Beautiful cottage and Twisty loves it too! Hope to see you again soon.
Another fabulous stay, complete rest & relaxation with beautiful scenery & the best curry house on the planet on the doorstep (Mirchi Rhayader). Once again we must return later in the year & possibly with the little people!
A million thanks from two fully recharged parents 🙂
Thank you so much for having us in your beautiful cottage for the weekend. It’s a fantastically furnished little place and if we are back fishing this way I’m sure we will be booked back in here. Shame about the weather making the fishing poor but waking up to the snowy Cambrian Mountains was wonderful.
Thank you very much for the warm welcome, the cottage is lovely with such comfortable beds and ideally located between the north & south of Wales for us!
Great base for exploring Mid Wales and the coast. The walk by Llyn Clywedog (as per leaflet in folder) was lovely – about the right length for our 7 + 10 year olds.
Elan Valley visitor centre was a warm haven in between nature trails. Aberdovey beach was busy on New Year’s Day. It was bright and relatively warm, even mild enough for ice cream.
Elan is cosy and well equipped – thank you for your hospitality.
Gill, Jimmy, Anna, Zeb.
Old Swan Cafe in Rhayader really good for food and cakes. Nice curry at Raj Mahal. Glengower Hotel at the North End of Aberystwyth was great. We only went in because we were so cold but good food & beer. Druid Inn at Goginan on the way to Aber is a good pub. 43 years in the Good Beer Guide!
Here, the kitchen is the best equipped of any self-catering place I’ve stayed in.
Enjoy!
Jimmy.
Super stay in Elan cottage comfy beds and great places to explore. The Triangle in Rhayader does the best hot chocolates. We also went to Rhayader swimming pool which was great fun and walking around the dams it was a bit chilly but still amazing views.
My favourite place we went to was Aberdovey beach where we had ice creams even though it was cold.
We received a lovely welcome from our hosts even though we arrived a little early. The cottage was scrupulously clean with little extras like towels, shower gel and cleaning products. We had a lovely welcome pack with our favourite choccies and Strudel our dog had a bag of surprises too. We were given excellent information on the area which are highly recommended to future guests. We both slept like logs in the really comfy bed and the whole ambience of Severn Cottage was delightful. 3 cheers to two excellent hosts, and a big woof from Strudel. X.
Thank you, Grace &Adrian for a great stay here at Wye View. We pretty much think the same as most of your other guests who have left reviews in this book. The cottage is a good base to stay to explore so many lovely places here in the Wye Valley and beyond. This really was a home from home and the week just went too fast!
Pete & I managed to recharge our batteries and Dotty our Jack Russell had lots of lovely walks.

Lovely quiet spot in a great location to explore Wales. A little home away from home. Perfect for a couple and a dog. Definitely check out the nature reserve, just up the road. Elan Valley is great if you really want to stretch your legs.
Had a fab time stopping @ this beautiful cosy cottage. Managed to get out and about on some of the recommendations from Grace & Adrian our lovely hosts despite 3 storms passing through the area. Will definitely be back!
Had a wonderful week’s stay in your beautiful, well equipped cottage. Lovely surroundings, stunning scenery. Elan Valley & mountain drive over to Devil’s Bridge fabulous!
Thanks for your warm hospitality, cake & treats for Lily. We will certainly return again. Thanks!
Lovely, cottage, well equipped, spotlessly clean and the most comfortable bed.
Many things to do locally, and a bit further afield. Aberdyfi our favourite coastal day out. Sasha is exhausted, and so are we. Local dog walk opposite The Black Lion in Llangurig. DOwn the lane and walk by the river.
Farewell Mid-Wales. Super welcome from Grace and Adrian, thank you for having us.
P.S. Don;t miss King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Silver Mountain, Clywedog and Aberdyfi.
A very special part of the world. Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Mister B especially enjoyed paddling in the river in Llani, Rhayader & Newtown. Old Mill in Llanidloes is hard to find but very dog friendly. The market hall in Newtown sells dog beds @ £12.
Had a lovely stay in Severn Cottage. Adrian and Grace are lovely too with lots of ideas where to visit and places to travel to. We used the cottage as a base to go and explore from but we found it so comfortable I must admit to being lazy and sitting outside drinking beer and watching the view. Lots of birds on the bird feeders and red kites, buzzards above. Some spectacular views not far away, was spoilt because we had great weather too. Thanks Adrian & Grace.
What a great find. The cottage exceeded our expectations. Extremely clean & modern has everything you need. Great location – amazing views. The area has a lot to offer – great walks for our pup Ziggy who got to go in the local rivers & streams and the sea. Grace & Adrian were great hosts – friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks for the eggs – best tasting and so yellow!
We love this area and hope to return again.
Thanks for the great week – we have certainly relaxed & recharged our batteries. Ziggy appreciated his yummy treat bag!
Back once more to our favourite retreat Having never stayed at Severn before (we have stayed at all other 3 cottages) we now have decided this is the cottage for us! It is simply wonderful!
Found Aber’s best kept secret on this stay – the back yard barbecue – fabulous food in a quirky quaint setting. We also recommend the curry house in Rhayader – bhajis built like cricket balls!
As always we will return home with our objective achieved – fully recharged, blisfully rested and probably half a stone heavier than when we arrived due to fabulous local fare!
Such a fantastic, cosy, comfy cottage. We have had a really lovely week here and even the weather played ball. The welcome tray was a lovely touch, the cake went down a treat.
Adrian and Grace were great hsots and were very kind to leave a bottle of water, lighter and a kettle when we woke up to a power cut and no water.
Will miss the beautiful views.
Also thank you for the bag of dog treats for Domino 🙂
We returned for another round of Elan cycling and it was even better than 2017. The weather! We had blue skies and no wind all day. Beautiful. Thank you for the lovely accommodation with lots of little comforts; well-equipped kitchen, snacks, TV, fluffy towels and sheep alarm clocks. We’ll be back.
Thoroughly enjoyed both the cottage and the week in general. The bird-life was better than anticipated, the Elan Valley’s in particular. Thanks for the welcome & supplies.
We had such a lovely time. Thanks Grace for the eggs and all the ideas to seek out around Wales. We wnet walking, cycling, and even boating on a canal at Brecon Park. Thank you to Adrian & Jonathan for looking after our bikes and repairing a puncture. Hospitality 100%.
Very many thanks for a wonderful weekend. The cottage was a lovely surprise – spotlessly clean, comfortable beds & a much appreciated welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits & milk – thank you!! We’ve enjoyed seeing the birds and sheep (and hens!) outside our windows.
We can highly recommend Hafod for walks (turn left at Devil’s Bridge) & the Angel Hotel in Llanidloes for dinner – it was fabulous but book a table!!
Very pleasant location & ideal for walking and beautiful area. We were “snowed in” on day 1, but very impressed our hosts dug us out. Delightful welcome pack & everything you need for a comfortable stay.Local pub very good food & dog friendly.
Lovely spot you have here on the edge of the Elan Valley – often an area we have passed thorough on the South to North journeys. We are glad we did indeed make a point to spend a couple of nights here.
A welcome break from Cardiff and we hope to come back to the area again. We will certainly recommend your cottages here.
Claerwen Dam was a particular favourite – amazing views from the top. Can recommend gentle slopes and path around Craig Goch dam for a more “leisurely walk / hike.”
Once again we return as “frequent flyers”. Another fabulous stay, wonderful snow & scenery you just can’t beat! Inner & outer peace now fully regained – just a shame we couldn’t get snowed in and not have to go home! …we shall return again later in the year.
(P.S. can we have the whistling kettle again – even if you just have that & the choice of the ‘leccy one! We love the old-school traditional whistle of “tea’s ready!”)
The cottage was great and exceeded our expectations. Adrian & Grace are warm and friendly hosts & we will definitely be visiting here again with the family!
We had a lively New Years stay at Wye View. The cottage was perfectly equipped and is the ideal size for the two of us. Elan Valley was a recommendation from Adrian on arrival and it’s a must visit, beautiful scenery & a lovely walk / drive.
Grace & Adrian couldn’t have been more helpful & we’ve loved every minute.
Hosts were accommodating and friendly, full of local knowledge and places to visit. The cottage was beautiful and everything we needed as a base to explore the local area.
We have had a lovely time staying in the cottage. It was clean and comfortable and the host was very friendly and helpful. We would gladly stay here again.
We’ve had an amazing stay here, the cottage is lovely and the views even more so! We had everything we needed. The owners were absolutely amazing and very friendly. We had a little problem with the WiFi, but other than that it was a great holiday for my birthday!
We had such a lovely time in this lovely cottage, and we will let our family and friends know that it is a great place to come if you want to relax and recharge your batteries. Thank you.
We have had such a lovely time at your beautiful cottage. It has been just what we needed for a week away from “real life”. We have had a peaceful & relaxing time! Thank you!
Lovely quaint cottage, with beautiful views. We did some great walks with our dog, and had a well needed rest. The weather was good too, so it was a lovely 3 days.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our long Bank Holiday weekend in Elan Cottage. It is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. We were made to feel so welcome with coffee, tea and biscuits. Even our dog got a goodie bag. 🙂
Thank you for your advice and suggestions for things to do in the area. Our favourites were Brecon Beacons, Devil’s Bridge and Elan Valley.
After a warm welcome, we settled in to our cosy cottage. Beautiful views all mod cons we needed. Thanks for babysitting our dog Robbie, he says woof! Would come back in a heartbeat.
Enjoyable walks behind the cottage and from the village tea shop. Would recommend the circular walk around the hills seen in the view from the terrace. Devils Bridge + Aberystwyth. Also the nature trail @ Llyn Clywedog well worth a visit.
