Very comfortable, relaxing retreat. Didn’t matter that the weather was bad. Will recommend to friends and family.
Neil.
Thank you very much for the warm welcome, the cottage is lovely with such comfortable beds and ideally located between the north & south of Wales for us!
Diolch yn fawr iawn,
Bethan & Mari.
Great base for exploring Mid Wales and the coast. The walk by Llyn Clywedog (as per leaflet in folder) was lovely – about the right length for our 7 + 10 year olds.
Elan Valley visitor centre was a warm haven in between nature trails. Aberdovey beach was busy on New Year’s Day. It was bright and relatively warm, even mild enough for ice cream.
Elan is cosy and well equipped – thank you for your hospitality.
Gill, Jimmy, Anna, Zeb.
Old Swan Cafe in Rhayader really good for food and cakes. Nice curry at Raj Mahal. Glengower Hotel at the North End of Aberystwyth was great. We only went in because we were so cold but good food & beer. Druid Inn at Goginan on the way to Aber is a good pub. 43 years in the Good Beer Guide!
Here, the kitchen is the best equipped of any self-catering place I’ve stayed in.
Enjoy!
Jimmy.
Super stay in Elan cottage comfy beds and great places to explore. The Triangle in Rhayader does the best hot chocolates. We also went to Rhayader swimming pool which was great fun and walking around the dams it was a bit chilly but still amazing views.
My favourite place we went to was Aberdovey beach where we had ice creams even though it was cold.
From Anna.
We received a lovely welcome from our hosts even though we arrived a little early. The cottage was scrupulously clean with little extras like towels, shower gel and cleaning products. We had a lovely welcome pack with our favourite choccies and Strudel our dog had a bag of surprises too. We were given excellent information on the area which are highly recommended to future guests. We both slept like logs in the really comfy bed and the whole ambience of Severn Cottage was delightful. 3 cheers to two excellent hosts, and a big woof from Strudel. X.
Anita & Steve.
Lovely stay with wonderful welcome as always!
Thank you very much! Be sure to come back again.
Elaine, Simone & 🐕 Tonie.
Beautiful well equipped cottage. We have really enjoyed our stay. Enjoyed watching the red kites feeding at Bwlch Nant Yr Arian visitor centre.
Elan Valley is a must as the scenery is amazing especially the wonderful colours at this time of year.
Ideal escape from the fireworks for Tallie. Thank you.
Gerry, Joy & Tallie.
A great place to stay for exploring the area. The beds were extremely comfy!!
Everything you need for a short stay. Thanks!
Beautiful views even on a drizzly weekend in November.
Such a lovely cottage – a real home from home! The location is stunning – opening the curtains each morning to admire the view!!
We’ve explored Elan Valley and Hafren Forest – some great suggestions from Grace.
We will be planning our next trip!

This is our 10th year (on and off) staying at Wye View Cottages and they just get better and better; thank you Adrian & Grace.
We recommend Gilfach nature reserve as a place to visit, it is quite simply breathtaking. Looking forward to the next 10.

Thank you, Grace &Adrian for a great stay here at Wye View. We pretty much think the same as most of your other guests who have left reviews in this book. The cottage is a good base to stay to explore so many lovely places here in the Wye Valley and beyond. This really was a home from home and the week just went too fast!
Pete & I managed to recharge our batteries and Dotty our Jack Russell had lots of lovely walks.

Lovely quiet spot in a great location to explore Wales. A little home away from home. Perfect for a couple and a dog. Definitely check out the nature reserve, just up the road. Elan Valley is great if you really want to stretch your legs.

Lovely cottage, with super surroundings. Very cosy, with all the furnishings.

Had a fab time stopping @ this beautiful cosy cottage. Managed to get out and about on some of the recommendations from Grace & Adrian our lovely hosts despite 3 storms passing through the area. Will definitely be back!
Thank you for your wonderful hospitality, caring nature and information. We had a great time, we will be back next year.

Thanks for a wonderful stay. Lovely cottage, kind and knowledgeable hosts, great venue from which to explore.
Our favourite trips were to Aberystwyth beach, New Quay to see dolphins, the Red Kite feeding station, Elan Valley dams and Devil’s bridge.
Best wishes,
Raman, Neenu & Josh. X
Lovely, cottage, well equipped, spotlessly clean and the most comfortable bed.
Many things to do locally, and a bit further afield. Aberdyfi our favourite coastal day out. Sasha is exhausted, and so are we. Local dog walk opposite The Black Lion in Llangurig. DOwn the lane and walk by the river.
Farewell Mid-Wales. Super welcome from Grace and Adrian, thank you for having us.
P.S. Don;t miss King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Silver Mountain, Clywedog and Aberdyfi.
🙁 <- Sad face don’t want to go home!!!
Jeanie, Adam and Sasha 🐾
A very special part of the world. Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Mister B especially enjoyed paddling in the river in Llani, Rhayader & Newtown. Old Mill in Llanidloes is hard to find but very dog friendly. The market hall in Newtown sells dog beds @ £12.
Tim & Mister B.
What a lovely cottage. We’ve really enjoyed our stay here. Comfy beds and beautiful views. Thank you for such a warm welcome.
Yasmin, Jon & James.

Had a lovely stay. Well equipped cottage. Good location. Thank you for a great holiday. Will definitely be back.
Alan & Elaine & Rocco the dog.
Had a lovely stay in Severn Cottage. Adrian and Grace are lovely too with lots of ideas where to visit and places to travel to. We used the cottage as a base to go and explore from but we found it so comfortable I must admit to being lazy and sitting outside drinking beer and watching the view. Lots of birds on the bird feeders and red kites, buzzards above. Some spectacular views not far away, was spoilt because we had great weather too. Thanks Adrian & Grace.
Stan the whippet enjoyed it too. X
Pat & John.
After a very traumatic past six months we felt that we really needed a holiday where we could relax and unwind, and here we have done just that.
The cottage is beautiful and you have though of everything.
Thank you for a lovely holiday and also for the bara brith and the biscuits.
We look forward to returning in the future.
Pat & Allan.
Had a great stay in Severn Retreat. Cottage is all we could wish for, Bailey says thank you for the treats.
We did not know this area at all. But having been made so welcome, and the weather being great we will be back.
Thank you Grace & Adrian, hope to see you again.

What a great find. The cottage exceeded our expectations. Extremely clean & modern has everything you need. Great location – amazing views. The area has a lot to offer – great walks for our pup Ziggy who got to go in the local rivers & streams and the sea. Grace & Adrian were great hosts – friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks for the eggs – best tasting and so yellow!
We love this area and hope to return again.
Thanks for the great week – we have certainly relaxed & recharged our batteries. Ziggy appreciated his yummy treat bag!
Sarah & Grahame & Ziggy 🐾.
Great to be back.
Lovely little cottage.
Thanks Grace for being so accommodating.
We’ll certainly be returning.
Best wishes,
Nick & Carrie
A beautiful cottage in a wonderful setting. Many thanks to Grace & Adrian.
Paul
Back once more to our favourite retreat Having never stayed at Severn before (we have stayed at all other 3 cottages) we now have decided this is the cottage for us! It is simply wonderful!
Found Aber’s best kept secret on this stay – the back yard barbecue – fabulous food in a quirky quaint setting. We also recommend the curry house in Rhayader – bhajis built like cricket balls!
As always we will return home with our objective achieved – fully recharged, blisfully rested and probably half a stone heavier than when we arrived due to fabulous local fare!
Great hosts. Great food. Great time.
– it doesn’t get better than this –
🙂
Glen & Siobhan
Thank you for a wonderful stay in your lovely cottage. We’ve all had a fabulous time & don’t want to leave! We hope you’ll have us again 🙂
Rob, Michelle, Isabel, Feebie & Pebbles
Such a fantastic, cosy, comfy cottage. We have had a really lovely week here and even the weather played ball. The welcome tray was a lovely touch, the cake went down a treat.
Adrian and Grace were great hsots and were very kind to leave a bottle of water, lighter and a kettle when we woke up to a power cut and no water.
Will miss the beautiful views.
Also thank you for the bag of dog treats for Domino 🙂
Abby, Adrian, Ross, baby bump + Domino

We have already passed details on to friends regarding this cottage. We would most definitely return. Big thank you for the warm welcome.

A very relaxing 2 night stay with our 5 year old daughter. Grace could not have been more helpful and friendly. Would love to come back.
Gemma & Michael
We returned for another round of Elan cycling and it was even better than 2017. The weather! We had blue skies and no wind all day. Beautiful. Thank you for the lovely accommodation with lots of little comforts; well-equipped kitchen, snacks, TV, fluffy towels and sheep alarm clocks. We’ll be back.
Tom, Jack, Tim & Dan
We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Weather was good except for a few wet days, but meant we could venture out and explore Wales.
Location good (shame about the road). Great views.
Hosts were fantastic. Thanks for the eggs! Yummy!
Shame the 2 weeks went so fast.
Thank you.
Martin & Sabrina.
Everything perfect – enough said.
Jackie & Michael + Bruce
Thoroughly enjoyed both the cottage and the week in general. The bird-life was better than anticipated, the Elan Valley’s in particular. Thanks for the welcome & supplies.
Alistair.
This, our second visit here, was just as warm and welcoming as our first.
A very welcoming hospitality tray, including dog’s nibbles and help and information from Grace & Adrian.
Cottage spotless & whole accommodation worth the 4 stars it has been awarded. Plus the eggs!
Beautiful surroundings and great walks within a fairly short distance.
We may well be here again, inshallah!

A lovely cottage with stunning views. Grace took our daughter to see the chickens and she came back with some eggs 🙂
Excellent condition and extremely clean.
Elan dam was beautiful and a drive to the others is well worth a trip.
Local pubs are good for food too!
Will definitely be back in the summer.

Thank you for a very comfortable stay in a beautifully kept cottage. Amazing views over the valley! A bonus to wake up to a “snowy” scene in April!!
A special thank you for looking after Bonnie whilst we ventured to Corris for a trip to King Arthur’s caves.
We will definitely recommend “Wye View”.

PS: it was very warm and cosy – Daniel.
Dear Adrian 7 Grace,
Very many thanks for a wonderful weekend. The cottage was a lovely surprise – spotlessly clean, comfortable beds & a much appreciated welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits & milk – thank you!! We’ve enjoyed seeing the birds and sheep (and hens!) outside our windows.
We can highly recommend Hafod for walks (turn left at Devil’s Bridge) & the Angel Hotel in Llanidloes for dinner – it was fabulous but book a table!!
It’s been a really great visit – thank you!!
Sue, Paul, Jonny & Esteban.
Very pleasant location & ideal for walking and beautiful area. We were “snowed in” on day 1, but very impressed our hosts dug us out. Delightful welcome pack & everything you need for a comfortable stay.Local pub very good food & dog friendly.
Steve & Sue + “Millie”
Lovely spot you have here on the edge of the Elan Valley – often an area we have passed thorough on the South to North journeys. We are glad we did indeed make a point to spend a couple of nights here.
A welcome break from Cardiff and we hope to come back to the area again. We will certainly recommend your cottages here.
Claerwen Dam was a particular favourite – amazing views from the top. Can recommend gentle slopes and path around Craig Goch dam for a more “leisurely walk / hike.”
All the best for 2018,
Emelyne & Guy.
Lovely cottage with everything you could need. Lovely owners fantastic area. Will definitely return.
Jason & Leau.
Once again we return as “frequent flyers”. Another fabulous stay, wonderful snow & scenery you just can’t beat! Inner & outer peace now fully regained – just a shame we couldn’t get snowed in and not have to go home! …we shall return again later in the year.
(P.S. can we have the whistling kettle again – even if you just have that & the choice of the ‘leccy one! We love the old-school traditional whistle of “tea’s ready!”)
Glen & Siobhan.
The cottage was great and exceeded our expectations. Adrian & Grace are warm and friendly hosts & we will definitely be visiting here again with the family!
Tim & Tammy.
Stayed 4 times at cottages (work) sometimes very short notice, made very welcome. Excellent accommodation & helpful hosts.

Lovely area, enjoyed the trip to Aberystwyth and a ride on the Vale of Rheidol steam railway.

Arrived on a sunny afternoon to this lovely cottage and beautiful part of the world. The views from the cottage are stunning! We were made most welcome by Grace & Adrian, such lovely helpful people. Our week remained dry and mostly sunny. We were so lucky with the weather and managed some great walks with our dog Macey – Elan valley & reservoirs, Hafren forest and Hafod are all worth a visit.
Would recommend these holiday cottages to friends.
Thank you both and a big thank you for our welcome pack – and Macey’s too, such a nice touch!

Clean & cosy cottage – didn’t miss home at all!! Loved the welcome goodies, especially the dog treats. Bara Brith was delicious 🙂 Cracking views!!
Weather not ideal, but sunshine when it mattered. Glorious Elan Valley – once in the rain and then on bicycles in the sun!! Complete with ‘baby’ trailer for the dogs!!!
Devil’s Bridge and Mynach Falls were a great day out and it was good to see the sea at Aberystwyth – as well as a little shopping!!
The Hafod Estate has some wonderful walking, waterfalls too. Powis Castle, Mansion and gardens was a real treat.
Lovely part of the country, would definitely come back.

A great short break in a very beautiful part of the country. Great walks on the Wye Valley trail and in the Elan Valley.
The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped, everything necessary for a home from home.
Thank you.
Sandra & Steve.
What a wonderful cottage in a perfect location, had a lovely stay, Elan Valley beautiful. Hosts very welcoming, tea / coffee & biscuits very welcome.
Debbie & Mark & Cassie.
As everyone else has already said in varying words, Elan Cottage is a pure delight. We did the “home from home” sigh when we first stepped through the door. The biscuits and bara brith for us humans was a lovely touch and ‘Chin’ our dog was made up with his own goodie bag!
There are so many nice places to visit. Our most favourite place was Hafod. The walks are just magical with surprises at every turn. Definitely a “I wasn’t expecting that” place. Remember to take some supplies with you.
Aberystwyth is a brilliant town and for a driving experience the mountain road after Staylittle from Dylife to Machynlleth is pure bliss. The best road in the UK by far!!
Thank you Grace and Adrian for making our stay so memorable.
P.S. If you have a dog, don’t forget to visit Sophie Bach Coffee shop in Aberystwyth. Biscuits galore and they photograph your dog and put it on the wall.
Paul, Martina & Chin
Lovely cottage, comfortable very welcoming. Suggest trimming the last two conifers next to Elan, but loved watching the wildlife. Would definitely come come back. Had a great time.
Simon & Mandy.
What a peaceful yet dramatic part of the world. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The ride through Elan to Machynlleth and back over the mountains was world-class! The kites … the dams … the views … the lovely people. Thank you for letting us use your lovely place as a base.
