Kite feeding at Bwich Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre too.
We hope to find time for a return stay.

To Grace & Adrian.
Thank you so much for accepting our extremely last minute booking. The cottage is the best we have ever stayed in and in such a beautiful area too. So well equipped, stylish & comfy! We could live here! The weather was awful but still the scenery & area is stunning and it was nice to come back to a warm cosy cottage.
We visited Elan Valley (x2), Aberystwyth & Nant y Bwlch for the red kites.
A lovely break. Thank you!
Sara, Dave & Moss.
I have had a lovely holiday. Cottage is beautiful. Very clean and cosy. Scenery is stunning. Plenty of places for Poppy to explore. Bwlch Nant Yr Arian is definitely worth a visit for Red Kites and beautiful walks. Staff in shop and café were lovely. Elan Valley is also stunning.
A huge thank you to Adrian and Grace for creating this lovely place. Definitely coming back, nothing is too much trouble and welcome tea and coffee very much appreciated, also the milk you provided for my arrival. Can’t wait to recommend Wye View.
Thank you again for a relaxing much needed break.
Elaine & Poppy.
We have really enjoyed staying in this immaculate cottage – many thanks.
Our first visit to Mid Wales, we have been stunned by the scenery – particularly enjoyed Powis Castle, Elan Valley and Bwlch Nant Yr Arian for Red Kite feeding.
Bluebell Inn at Llangurig – very friendly.
Rod and Rosie.
Lovely stay very comfortable and a fantastic area to explore. Must return.
John & Carole.
Thank you Grace and Adrian for letting us stay in your immaculately clean and cosy cottage.
We have had a relaxing stay, visiting family, walking and visiting Powis Castle.
The food at the Trewythen in Llani was tasty.
See you again soon.
Tim & Belinda.
Thank you Grace and Adnan for a wonderful stay in your well equipped and comfortable cottage. We did appreciate your helpful information folders which were excellent.
The cottage has amazing views and the scent of roses by the front door was lovely, thankyou.
We returned to Elan valley ana Devil’s Bridge and enjoyed travelling along the Aberystwyth Mountain Road and found places of beauty and interest to visit – “Hafren Estate the sourcee of the River Severn and Hafod Estate with its stunning views and magestic trees.
The sound of bird song cheered us too! There was a friendly and warm welcome at the Blue Bell Inn Llangurig where we enjoyed several meals.
Mia-Wales was a great place to visit!
Thanks again.
Sue and Pete.
Thank you for a lovely stay, cottage is fantastic, very cosy and comfortable with great views.
We visited the dams, Devil’s Bridge, nature reserve and Aberystwyth, all good and worth a visit.
Adrian has been a good host, unfortunately we didn’t meet Grace as she was away.
Thank you both, we will return again one day.
Jim, Jeanette and Dudley.
Once again a lovely stay in this gorgeous cottage, thanks you both and a Happy New Year!
Jackie, Rob & Bill🐾.
Thank you both for a very nice stay. Accommodation was excellent. Nothing was too much bother and many thanks for the little gifts of eggs and cake.
Mick & Dawn.
Severn Retreat has proven to be a real treat! Beautiful cottage, lovely surroundings and welcoming hosts. Thank you for a perfect holiday. Mid-wales is a stunning area with lots of relatively undiscovered gems. Wish we could have made it two weeks not one. Thanks to for the gifts of eggs & treats – all very much appreciated.
Val & Phil.
We have loved our stay in Severn Retreat. Lovel, cosy cottage, spotless, comfortable and everything you could need, topped off with beautiful scenery.
We enjoyed days out at Elan Valley, Llandrindod Wells, Aberystwyth and Llanidloes (great fish & chips at Evan’s).
Thank you Grace & Adrian.
Ian & Alison.

We have had a lovely few days at Severn Retreat – thank you.
The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped.
We have enjoyed some lovely walks with beautiful scenery.
Gill, Simon and Bonnie🐾 .
A lovely comfortable cottage.
Sadly, Hugo wasn’t well for the 1st few days but it was no hardship staying in. We still managed to visit Elan Valley, although the water wasn’t flowing due to maintenance. Had scenic drive round the valley and the mountains.
The Black Lion pub in the village is tiny but friendly, had a lovely meal in there on Sunday. Also visited the Hafren forest & lake and the lead mine. How people worked those conditions is difficult to imagine.
A drive to Aberystwyth and then on to Corris stopping for a delicious meal at the Wildfowler, very friendly and dogs are welcome.
We have had a lovely week Adrian & Grace are wonderful hosts by generous with the eggs.
We hope to come back soon.
Derek, Pat & “Hugo” 🐾
Had a lovely holiday, Rob relived his childhood memories of being here. Such a lovely cottage and such a comfy bed.
We were out most days Elan Valley, Devils bridge which killed us and Mitzy. Found a lovely pub & great food, Halfway House. Wondering half way to where?
Went on steam train to Aberystwyth. Great views looking out. Saw dolphins out at sea, so lovely to see them jumping.
For Rob he hadn’t done this since he was 8, now 68 and relived again. Last day had rain.
Thank you for the cake & eggs.
Thank you for your friendship, see you next year.
Susan, Robert & Mitzy.
Thank you for providing such a beautiful, comfortable and well equipped cottage with stunning views. We were only here for a few days but were able to walk and and enjoy the stunning Welsh landscape. We plan to return for a longer visit if possible as soon as we can. Thank you Adrian and Grace for providing everything we needed and being so helpful, and for the delicious eggs.
Glynis & Roger.
Had a fabulous break on our second stay at Severn Retreat. Thanks for the eggs Adrian & Grace. Walked Pumlumon Fawr, source of the Severn from Hafren forest and was very lucky with the weather.
Highly recommend the Triangle Inn in Cwmdauddwr but do book first for a meal.
Chris & Phil.
Very pleasant stay here with excellent weather. (Temperature lower than further inland.)
Can recommend Powis Castle and Elan Valley and dams. If you’re feeling adventurous try “Silver Mountain Experience” – not good for those who don’t like dark and enclosed spaces!
Lots of various eateries in Rhayader, can recommend the Elan Hotel for v. good Sunday lunch.
Lovel cottage, imacculate and with a cofortable bed. Adrian and Grace are great hosts and kept us supplied with eggs which we loved.
This is our second visit to Mid Wales and will definitely not be our last. Highly recommended. 🙂
David & Christine.
We have had a wonderful week here. It has been cosy & very comfortable.
We had everything we needed & more. Best place we have ever stayed in! Thank you so much for all extras & Rocky loved the treats left him.
We visited Aberystwyth, the Pistyll waterfall, Devils Bridge/ waterfall (lots of steps) Bwlch Nant yr Arian – highly recommend watching the feeding of the Red Kites!!! Newtown has a lovely walk along the river & lots of shops.
Thank you for the jump start Adrian & the fresh eggs! The views are stunning.
Alison & Andy (& Rocky too!)
Fabulous cottage, all of the comforts of home, spotlessly clean, well maintained, brilliant surroundings, very relaxing. A place where you can really chill out. Hope to come back again in the near future, will really look forward to that. Hosts very friendly and welcoming and very attentive to any needs.
Thank you for allowing us to stay and our dog Maxine (Brilliant).

A really great cottage, very clean & attention to detail is second to none, 🙂 very comfortable bed. Would visit again maybe in the summer. A nice restful break from the hustle bustle of everyday life.
Will recommend to family & friends. Thank you.
Keith & Debbie.
What a wonderful find, the place was spotless and the facilities perfect, in an ideal setting as well. The information you provided made a huge difference, along with a lovely welcome.
Thank you very much, it made for a very restful and wonderful break.
Cheryl, Pete & Ziggy.
This was our 2nd visit to Wye View, we last stayed in Severn Cottage in Oct 2018. The place is like a home from home. Grace & Adrian work hard to make sure visitors have everything they need, plus all those extra special touches. The new bed is so comfortable “I struggled to get out of it”! This was only a short visit, spur of the moment thing to view a house. (Thank you so much for booking us in at short notice.) The cottage is always so clean and well equipped, wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else in this area.
Julie, Pete & Dotty 🐾.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Severn Cottage. A good location for all the good scenic walks. The views are breathtaking. ❤
Thank you for having us! 🙂

Beautiful cottage with amazing views. A good base to enjoy the Elan Valley.
Roger, Frances & Milly 🐾
Lovely few days in this beautiful cottage. The owners have thought of everything. It’s a great base to explore all the area.
Lynne Trevor & Max.
We have had the best time staying in Severn Retreat. Our stay has been very relaxing and credit for this must go to Grace & Adrian for the most perfect “home from home” we have stayed in. Their attention to detail is first class *****. The bed is extremely comfortable affording us both some great nights’ sleep.
A good location for trips out to Barmouth, a great seafront town. Aberystwyth, Newtown for a lovely riverside walk and supermarket shop. Clywedog reservoir & forest walk were worth the visit as was Hafren Forest.
Grace very kindly left us some fresh eggs from her chickens. A big bonus was how many places and beaches are dog friendly around and about.
Would highly recommend Wye View for a relaxing holiday in a perfect location.
Fran & Ian + Marshall (cocker)
Thank you! An excellent base for the first couple of days of the Wye Valley Walk, source to sea. The hottest days of the year! But fabulous views from Plynlimon. A very well-appointed little house, everything thought of, great kitchen, comfy bed, plenty of space.
A very happy few days.
John & Sarah.
A great base away from home to explore Mid-Wales. Spotlessly clean accommodation and lovely hosts. The welsh cakes & milk on arrival were appreciated and Harley was very happy with his dog treats.
Red Kite feeding station at Bwlch Nany Yr Arian visitor centre is well worth a visit as is the Elan Valley Reservoirs. The weather was kind to us all week and we will be going home ‘recharged’. Will definitely be coming back again to explore further.
Phil & Liz (+Harley)
We had a fantastic week here at Severn Cottage. Everything we needed was here. Very comfortable and a great base to visit many places in Mid Wales. Had lovely coffee and cake at the Lost Arc Rhayader. Plenty of great walks for all abilities in the area. Thank you Grace and Adrian and their son who are lovely hosts.
Gareth & Rita.
So nice to finally be able to go on holiday & what a find this pace was! Grace & Adrian have literally thought of everything & made it a real home from home. Fantastic location, would recommend a visit to the tearoom at the end of the road in Llangurig. A lovely relaxing week. 😀
Jen & Graham.
Thank you for providing a lovely clean cottage and for all the little extras such as a variety of teas, milk, doggy treats and hand a shower washes. It has all been very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.
Many thanks.

Enjoyed the stay in Llangurig and the week here was just what was needed after months of not going anywhere.
Plenty of hill walking opportunities (“Source of the Severn Walk” from Hafren forest is recommended).
Cottage was ideal for what was required. Would consider coming back – the best recommendation available!
Brian.
Adrian & Grace such welcoming hosts. Cottage thoughtfully equipped. Welcome tray very welcome. We really enjoyed the nature reserves and exploring the towns around. Really enjoyed our stay in this amazingly beautiful area.
Richard & Jilly.
Had another fantastic 2 weeks in Severn Retreat, lovely cottage everything we could wish for. Yummy eggs and Bara Brith from our hosts Grace & Adrian. Cottage spotlessly clean and lots of local and historical info from Grace & Adrian which added greatly to our stay making us feel welcome.
Going home feeling rested & relaxed. Beautiful sunny weather. Stunning scenery and great walking in Hafren Forest, Elan Valley and Hafod.
Many thanks.
Debbie & Dave.
PS Gilfach nature reserve is just up the road great walks and wildlife.
Booked on impulse as soon as things started opening up after lockdown and so glad I did! Beautiful cottage, lovely hosts – very helpful when needed. Puts the “treat” into retreat. I’m sure I’ll be back. Thank you for such a lovely stay.
Clair.
So good! The cottage exceeded expectations in every way. Great attention to detail, we needn’t pack the kitchen sink next time!
Location made for a great base for a week of cycling, the endless tracks of the Hafren forest were a highlight! Will recommend and hope to return!
Pete & Vicky
Wonderful stay. Wonderful people 😀
Cottage had everything we needed, was very clean also.
Looking forward to booking up again!
Many thanks,
Claire & Paul.
The cottage stay has been super chilled. The hosts were super helpful before and during the stay. The cottage was clean and well stocked. The views are amazing too. Watching the sheep on the mountain has become a pastime.
A fabulous weekend so a massive thank you.
Marline and Nick.
We love staying in Wales and this cottage made it extra special.
Immaculate, very welcoming and cosy.
A lovely few days and will be recommending Wye View to friends and family.
We appreciate the hard work by Grace and Adrian, even more so in these challenging times.
Sue, Stu & Harvey.
A fabulous cottage! Immaculate and very well appointed.
Every detail has been considered in these difficult times. I visit the area regularly and know it well. This is by far the nicest cottage I have stayed in so I will be booking again for next year,
Thank you!
P.S. Went to Bwlch Nant yr Arian for a walk – truly stunning and less than 1/2 hour away (on A44).
Wow!! From the moment we arrived – met by our lovely host Adrian who gave us such a warm welcome and helpful info on places to visit, he also brought us some freshly laid eggs – when we opened the door to our cottage we were so impressed by the cleanliness and all the lovely extras – such thoughtful gestures . We really enjoyed the bara brith cake and have bought some to take home.
Thankyou Grace and Adrian for making our stay so special – you are both such lovely people.
We have been so luck with the weather which enhanced the stunning scenery of this beautiful part of the country. We visited many fantastic places with unforgettable views – so many pictures taken!
So sorry to be leaving, will miss the beautiful views from the window and watching so many different birds feeding from the feeders.
So peaceful and relaxing. Hopefully will be back again someday.
Many thanks yet again.
Eric and Pauline X.
We loved the Elan Valley and did a couple of lovely walks and Hafren forest was also stunning.
Lovely area and clean, comfortable cottage and friendly hosts.
We really loved Gilfach for walks and also Llanidloes, and the Rhayader Kite feeding centre.
Kate & Andrew x
We’ve very much enjoyed our holiday & stay in Severn Cottage.
Llanidloes is a lovely nearby town. The bookshop is interesting. Cobblers tea shop is a must!
Some lovely local works too – thank you!
Julie & Rob.
What a wonderful cottage! Thank you to Adrian for a lovely welcome.
The cottage is beautiful, perfect location.
We were able to visit so many great places and a trip down memory lane for me growing up in Hereford.
Visit:
Will definitely be back! Beautiful beautiful place.
Sue & Rob.
Firstly I must comment on the incredible effort Grace & Adrian must have put into make Severn completely prepared following relaxation of Covid-10 restrictions. Absolutely clean and impeccably well organised. All credit to them!
It has been an amazing week with the typical range of “Mid-Wales” weather variations.,
We would love to return, mostly because it’s a lovely “home” for the week – but also I am one day determined to prise the ball from Ryan’s mouth – you’ll meet Ryan – a charming dog.
Advice: Get up early, put the kettle on (it takes a while!!), enjoy a well kept pint of ale at the Lamb & Flag, Rhayader and appreciate the local beauty.
Thanks Grace & Adrian.
Dave & Janet.
We have had a great stay (very relaxing). We adore Wales!
The cottage is lovely and so very clean.
We recommend New Quay and Devil’s Bridge.
Angie & Lee.
Quite simply our most favourite place on the planet!
Whether it be with our little people or a relaxing romantic getaway Wye View ticks all our boxes… see you again later in the year!

A relaxing stay, the cottage was immaculately clean and all the welcoming extras were a lovely touch. The local nature reserve is worth a visit with well marked routes. The Elan Valley is stunning with some excellent walks.
Happy New Year and thank you to our hosts for a lovely stay.
A beautiful place (both the cottage and the area) to spend a relaxing and enjoyable CHristmas. Would recommend walks at the waterfalls at Devil’s Bridge and the walk at Llyn Clewedog Reservoir.
Thank you to our excellent hosts providing excellent accommodation. We will definitely return.
Best wished for 2020.

Such a generous and helpful welcome. Love the scenery, even better than imagined! Lovely well-equipped cottage. Thank you.
Jean & Bernard.
What a lovely area to stay, cottage is just what you need, equipped with all you could possibly want. We have visited the Elan Valley, walked to the dams, found a lovely tea room just reopened at Easter.
The information centre at Elan Valley was very good, the people very helpful.
Managed to avoid cooking all week there are lots of places to eat and the local takeaways as well that Grace has left details of.
What more can I say, lovely place and lovely people.
Thank you.
Nick & Tina.
Have really enjoyed our stay here. A beautiful cosy cottage in great surroundings. One of the most immaculately clean & well equipped cottages we have stayed in. Very tempted to return.

Very many thanks to Grace & Adrian for making our stay so enjoyable. We greatly appreciated the milk, tea, coffee and biscuits that you provided for us. The cottage was lovely and just what we wanted – so comfortable! … Your advice, both person to person and in your guide book was so helpful. Thanks so much for everything.
Alison & Chris
Beautiful Cottage with amazing views. Very clean and lovely to come in and find milk, tea, coffee & sugar ready for us even biscuits for our dog. Very friendly welcome.
Lorraine, Rob & Evie
The attention to detail, numerous generous surprise extras and warm welcome received by Grace and Adrian after a long journey have made this by far the best holiday cottage we have stayed in. From start to finish nothing was too much trouble and we will certainly be recommending it.
We will be leaving with very happy memories including being here on the coldest Bank Holiday recorded in May. Woke to discover snow on high ground on Sunday!!
Many thanks again Grace and Adrian for all your kindness.
Joyce, Chris and Meg.
Another fabulous stay, complete rest & relaxation with beautiful scenery & the best curry house on the planet on the doorstep (Mirchi Rhayader). Once again we must return later in the year & possibly with the little people!
A million thanks from two fully recharged parents 🙂
Glen & Siobhan.
Very comfortable, relaxing retreat. Didn’t matter that the weather was bad. Will recommend to friends and family.
Neil.
We received a lovely welcome from our hosts even though we arrived a little early. The cottage was scrupulously clean with little extras like towels, shower gel and cleaning products. We had a lovely welcome pack with our favourite choccies and Strudel our dog had a bag of surprises too. We were given excellent information on the area which are highly recommended to future guests. We both slept like logs in the really comfy bed and the whole ambience of Severn Cottage was delightful. 3 cheers to two excellent hosts, and a big woof from Strudel. X.
Anita & Steve.
Beautiful well equipped cottage. We have really enjoyed our stay. Enjoyed watching the red kites feeding at Bwlch Nant Yr Arian visitor centre.
Elan Valley is a must as the scenery is amazing especially the wonderful colours at this time of year.
Ideal escape from the fireworks for Tallie. Thank you.
Gerry, Joy & Tallie.
THE BEST way to de-stress after a house move! – as always, FABULOUS!
Couldn’t recommend more highly – we will return yet again in 2019 to our favourite escape 🙂
Siobhan & Glen.
Thank you, Grace &Adrian for a great stay here at Wye View. We pretty much think the same as most of your other guests who have left reviews in this book. The cottage is a good base to stay to explore so many lovely places here in the Wye Valley and beyond. This really was a home from home and the week just went too fast!
Pete & I managed to recharge our batteries and Dotty our Jack Russell had lots of lovely walks.
Julie, Pete & Dotty.

Lovely quiet spot in a great location to explore Wales. A little home away from home. Perfect for a couple and a dog. Definitely check out the nature reserve, just up the road. Elan Valley is great if you really want to stretch your legs.
Jackie, Dan & Freddie (who enjoyed his treats).
Had a fab time stopping @ this beautiful cosy cottage. Managed to get out and about on some of the recommendations from Grace & Adrian our lovely hosts despite 3 storms passing through the area. Will definitely be back!
Had a beautiful stay at Severn Cottage, in a very special part of the world. My family have been coming here for many years and we love it!
Jen.
Lovely, cottage, well equipped, spotlessly clean and the most comfortable bed.
Many things to do locally, and a bit further afield. Aberdyfi our favourite coastal day out. Sasha is exhausted, and so are we. Local dog walk opposite The Black Lion in Llangurig. DOwn the lane and walk by the river.
Farewell Mid-Wales. Super welcome from Grace and Adrian, thank you for having us.
P.S. Don;t miss King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Silver Mountain, Clywedog and Aberdyfi.
🙁 <- Sad face don’t want to go home!!!
Jeanie, Adam and Sasha 🐾
A very special part of the world. Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Mister B especially enjoyed paddling in the river in Llani, Rhayader & Newtown. Old Mill in Llanidloes is hard to find but very dog friendly. The market hall in Newtown sells dog beds @ £12.
Tim & Mister B.
Had a lovely stay in Severn Cottage. Adrian and Grace are lovely too with lots of ideas where to visit and places to travel to. We used the cottage as a base to go and explore from but we found it so comfortable I must admit to being lazy and sitting outside drinking beer and watching the view. Lots of birds on the bird feeders and red kites, buzzards above. Some spectacular views not far away, was spoilt because we had great weather too. Thanks Adrian & Grace.
Stan the whippet enjoyed it too. X
Pat & John.
Had a great stay in Severn Retreat. Cottage is all we could wish for, Bailey says thank you for the treats.
We did not know this area at all. But having been made so welcome, and the weather being great we will be back.
Thank you Grace & Adrian, hope to see you again.
Vicki, David & Bailey 🐾.
What a great find. The cottage exceeded our expectations. Extremely clean & modern has everything you need. Great location – amazing views. The area has a lot to offer – great walks for our pup Ziggy who got to go in the local rivers & streams and the sea. Grace & Adrian were great hosts – friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks for the eggs – best tasting and so yellow!
We love this area and hope to return again.
Thanks for the great week – we have certainly relaxed & recharged our batteries. Ziggy appreciated his yummy treat bag!
Sarah & Grahame & Ziggy 🐾.
Great to be back.
Lovely little cottage.
Thanks Grace for being so accommodating.
We’ll certainly be returning.
Best wishes,
Nick & Carrie
Back once more to our favourite retreat Having never stayed at Severn before (we have stayed at all other 3 cottages) we now have decided this is the cottage for us! It is simply wonderful!
Found Aber’s best kept secret on this stay – the back yard barbecue – fabulous food in a quirky quaint setting. We also recommend the curry house in Rhayader – bhajis built like cricket balls!
As always we will return home with our objective achieved – fully recharged, blisfully rested and probably half a stone heavier than when we arrived due to fabulous local fare!
Great hosts. Great food. Great time.
– it doesn’t get better than this –
🙂
Glen & Siobhan
We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Weather was good except for a few wet days, but meant we could venture out and explore Wales.
Location good (shame about the road). Great views.
Hosts were fantastic. Thanks for the eggs! Yummy!
Shame the 2 weeks went so fast.
Thank you.
Martin & Sabrina.
Best self catering we have stayed in. Facilities and welcome by great hosts in Grace and Adrian with lots of information about the area.
Lovely location and views from the windows.
Hosts and facilities could not be improved.
See you again later in the year.
Mike & Debbie + “Peanut”
PS Peanut says thanks for the yummy treats.
Very pleasant location & ideal for walking and beautiful area. We were “snowed in” on day 1, but very impressed our hosts dug us out. Delightful welcome pack & everything you need for a comfortable stay.Local pub very good food & dog friendly.
Steve & Sue + “Millie”
Lovely spot you have here on the edge of the Elan Valley – often an area we have passed thorough on the South to North journeys. We are glad we did indeed make a point to spend a couple of nights here.
A welcome break from Cardiff and we hope to come back to the area again. We will certainly recommend your cottages here.
Claerwen Dam was a particular favourite – amazing views from the top. Can recommend gentle slopes and path around Craig Goch dam for a more “leisurely walk / hike.”
All the best for 2018,
Emelyne & Guy.
Lovely cottage with everything you could need. Lovely owners fantastic area. Will definitely return.
Jason & Leau.
The cottage was great and exceeded our expectations. Adrian & Grace are warm and friendly hosts & we will definitely be visiting here again with the family!
Tim & Tammy.
We had a lively New Years stay at Wye View. The cottage was perfectly equipped and is the ideal size for the two of us. Elan Valley was a recommendation from Adrian on arrival and it’s a must visit, beautiful scenery & a lovely walk / drive.
Grace & Adrian couldn’t have been more helpful & we’ve loved every minute.
Thank you XX
James & Emily.
Hosts were accommodating and friendly, full of local knowledge and places to visit. The cottage was beautiful and everything we needed as a base to explore the local area.
