First Impressions – LOVELY!! I always have reservations when staying somewhere new but very pleasantly surprised, Adrian and Grace were very welcoming and the cottage is lovely, very clean and cosy.

All showered and ready for our first night in, had a lovely Indian takeaway from the Raj Mahal, well mine was lovely, I am vegan and the only thing I would say is to may be avoid the as they were rather greasy, husband said his was a bit inconsistent but a decent effort. We met Adrian & Grace again today and met their chickens, Jack was very happy to be able to stroke one!

Day 3 – we went to the Great Oak café, nice jackets, sausage rolls and homemade broccoli and leak quiche.

Also went up the road to have a walk with Amy, we went to the nature reserve, beautiful scenery, just watch out for all the sheep poop! Wellies advised.

My son wants me to mention that his daddy made “OK Google” cry haha! He said “OK Google, Alexa is better” and she cried!

Daniel and Jack went to Elan Valley today whist Chloe and I had a girly day in the cottage playing games. The pictures they took were incredible, beautiful rainbows too. There is a visitors centre with a café too. We went for dinner at La Terrazza Bistro, Lovely little Italian restaurant, very accommodating for people with dietary requirements and fussy children. LOL.

Visited Gigrin Red Kite Feeding Station today, lovely little shop with knickknacks. I even bought some Christmas pressies!

Back in the hide to view the kites, lots and lots of them gliding through the sky, swooping down to the ground. Not much to do there other than the viewing and gift shop. Went to Aberystwyth Pier, saw the castle ruins, the kids had lot of fun in the arcade. Try to arrive early as parking is challenging.

Amy enjoyed her very first visit to the beach. Woof woof.

In the cottage for our last night, cooking a wholesome meal in preparation for our long drive back to Surrey tomorrow morning.

Overall, we have thoroughly enjoyed our holiday to Wales and our stay in Hafren Cottage.

Already planning our next visit when finances allow!

Enjoy! Thankyou Adrian and Grace! X♡X

What an awesome spot for a family holiday Wye View Cottages is! We three have thoroughly enjoyed our week here to round off the summer holiday. Montgomery Castle, Elan Valley Dams, Hafren Forest, Gilfach Nature Reserve, Devil’s Bridge & Aber and the Hafod Estate made our week and outside of food we have spent about £10!!

Huge thanks to Grace, Adrian & of course the gorgeous Ryan. We will be back!!

Clare, Reelzn & Ilze

Hafod Estate is an absolute must do! There are a number of prescribed walks but we combined sections of the blue, green and red walks and enjoyed the beautiful changing vistas. A shorter walk could easily be coupled with the Devil’s Bridge walk – the cheaper one is the best one to see the bridge – the drive to Hafod from Rhayader is gorgeous too – take the road to Cwmystwyth and enjoy!

Thanks for a great week Powys.

A beautiful cottage set within the hills of Mid Wales. The cottage had everything we needed for the base of out holiday. The cottage was extremely clean when we arrived.

During our stay we visited the Vale of Rheidol railway form Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge which offered amazing views and a relaxing way to view Mid Wales. Whilst in Aberystwyth we also viewed the castle ruins.

We also visited Quackers indoor play centre in Newbridge on Wye to let the children burn off some energy.

On Wednesday we cycled around Elan Valley. It was an amazing place to visit and take in the stunning surroundings. After the cycle ride we drove to Craig Goch dam for more amazing scenery.

Finally, we plan to stop off at the small breeds farm park and owl centre so that the children can see different animals and break up the journey home.

Mid Wales has been wonderful!

We had a wonderful 3 days staying at your lovely cottage. We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived & felt at home. The cottage was thoughtfully prepared, spotlessly clean & very cosy.

Adrian & Grace are excellent hosts who always made us feel comfortable – we particularly enjoyed the eggs from their hens.

During our three days we were in awe of the breathtaking views of the Welsh countryside, especially Elan Valley, Hafod Estate & the Devils Bridge waterfalls. The third days was rainy but we still managed to drive to Aberystwyth to see the coastline and enjoy some delicious fish & chips. The Lamb & Flag restaurant in Rhayader was also lovely.

Thank you

A much needed break in this magnificent part of Wales that we have driven through on countless occasions to and from Snowdonia on the A470 but after this week we have fallen in love with. Easter Day on the summit of Pen Pumlumon which Nick has been waiting to climb for years; a bitingly cold day on Esgair Penygarreg with Cadair to the north and the Black Mountains to the south seeming to be within touching distance; dodging snow showers at Strata Florida Abbey; cycle rides along the Elan Trail and around the Hafren Forest and every journey accompanied by the majestic beauty of red kites soaring effortlessly overhead. This delightful, cosy and well equipped cottage was the perfect base.

Thank you!

Emma, Nick, Milly.

PS – The stars were incredible! Milly.

Had such a lovely time here and although we were only here for 2 days we loved Hafren Forest (although the drive up to it isn’t for the faint hearted). We also went to a Nature Reserve + saw the Red Kites – good walks too.

The cottage itself is spotlessly clean with lovely touches such as drink sachets + biscuits. Very nice utensils, crockery etc. It’s cosy, welcoming + ideally located to explore the area.

I’d certainly return here when I’m in the area again.

Thank you so much.

Brilliant cottage, everything we’d hoped for and backup up by brilliant sunny weather the whole week.

Been out quite a bit. Nice day at New Quay being hot & sunny.

Super walks around Elan Valley and reservoir, Hafren Forest, Gilfach Nature Reserve, Hafod.

Devil’s Bridge is well worth a visit but not if you have a heart condition!

Although Powis Castle itself was closed under present conditions, gardens were brilliant.

Last but not least a visit to Rhayader to see the feeding of the Red Kites is well worth it.

Eating Out

We ate at Mariner’s Café, New Quay (very good); The Crown, Rhayader (average); Hafod Hotel, Devils Bridge (lovely trout); Red Lion, Llanidloes (average); Blue Bell (OK).

My two teenage sons and I have just completed a four night stay in Hafren Cottage. It was really lovely and cosy, and it was spotlessly clean. The shower had good pressure and was lovely and hot. The beds were really comfy and all three of us agreed that the duvets were super snuggly (in fact I invested in some as soon as we got home!)

The cottage had everything we needed in a really beautiful location. The added bonus of sheep in the field next to us, and seeing a chicken or two peering in at us through our cottages window, made for some fabulous photo opportunities!

Thank you Grace and Adrian for having us and being so accommodating.

I stayed in this beautiful cottage for two weeks during my elective placement as a third year student midwife. Grace has been extremely generous and accommodating throughout my stay and has made me feel so welcome. The cottage is lovely and in the most beautiful location.

The cottage has everything I needed for a comfortable and cosy two week stay. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would love to return here for a holiday someday!

Thank you Grace & Adrian XXX

We have really enjoyed our week here. The cottage is lovely, so clean and with everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable.

We loved Hafren forest, did the 7 mile walk. Aberystwyth was lovely too, we ended up there twice as the weather was lovely, albeit cold!

Kids enjoyed The Silver Mountain Experience. Powis Castle (National Trust) was also a great day out. So much to do in the area.

We had a lovely week. Very cosy & comfortable cottage and clean & well equipped. We were so lucky with the weather and did some fantastic walks with amazing views & scenery. Plynlimon, coast path between Borth & Wallog (saw dolphins and choughs!), and wonderfully peaceful but strenuous walk around the “green desert” near the Elan reservoirs. Red kite feeding centre was well worth the visit too – spectacular.

Thanks – we hope to return again soon!

Beautiful cottage, cosy and comfortable and we had a very warm welcome from Grace. Would highly recommend to our friends and family 🙂

The only criticism is that check-out could have been later than 10am – maybe 12 mid day…

Surbjit, Paul, James & Joshua.

Note: we have a 10am checkout to allow us time to clean the cottage for guests arriving the same day. But if we aren’t expecting another guest, you are welcome to stay longer – just ask!

What a fab little cottage! It made a brilliant base for us as we visited the Eisteddfod in Builth Wells. We had a lovely welcome from our hsots, and the kids especially liked going to see the chickens and roaming around the garden. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting outside with a glass of wine in the sun watching whilst our children played.

The cottage has everything we needed, and more! We will definitely be back! <3 🙂

Lots of love,
