The Elan Valley is a great day out at any time, but on open days you can visit the inside of one of the dams between 1pm and 4pm.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic most of the open days have been cancelled, but there is a three day event in September.
The revised dates for 2020 are as follows:
- Thursday 10th September
- Friday 11th September
- Saturday 12th September
This is your chance to venture into the Pen y Garreg Dam and up to the central tower. You’ll enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the Reservoir wall – and learn about the feat of engineering that made Elan.
Tickets must be bought in advance, there will be no option to buy tickets on the door. Please print or download your confirmation / ticket beforehand as there is no mobile signal at the dam and you will be required to show evidence of booking. (We can print our guests’ tickets here at Wye View.)
Entry is £5 for adults and £1 for those aged 16 and under, with half of all proceeds going to WaterAid.
Park at Penbont car park (adjacent to the Penbont House Tea Room) and take a walk through the woodland, up the steps to the dam entrance.
There are steps inside the dam which may be wet and in some areas there are low light levels. Children should be carefully supervised at all times.
Please check the Elan Valley events page for any late changes to this schedule.
